At Hidden Bay Leadership Camp you will find more than just a job, but an experience that will last a lifetime. Working with campers, teaching skills, putting on skits or leading campfire songs, you will create a lifetime of memories and skills. Position Details:
Cabin & Activity Leaders
The Cabin & Activity Leader is responsible for the direction, supervision and organization of children in small group settings, as well as the development and implementation of program activities. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of the participants in their group. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp and leadership experiences for participants that focus on the camp core values of courtesy, respect, responsibility, confidence, care & compassion.
Cabin & Activity Leaders live in the tent cabins with the campers and deliver programming through the day.
Day Camp Leader
The Day Camp Leader is responsible for the direction, supervision and organization of children in small group settings, as well as the development and implementation of program activities. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of the participants in their group. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp and leadership experiences for participants that focus on the camp core values of courtesy, respect, responsibility, confidence, care & compassion.
Day Camp Leaders travel to camp daily and deliver programming through the day.
Kitchen Assistant
The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assisting in the preparation of camp meals, and ensuring the cleanliness of the dishes, kitchen and dining hall. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp experience by assisting in the kitchen and ensuring the cleanliness of the facility.
The Kitchen Assistant lives in a private room with a shared washroom in our main lodge above the kitchen.
Head Counsellor:
The Head Counsellor is a member of the Senior Staff and responsible for overseeing the wellbeing of staff and campers as well as providing direction, supervision and organization of children in small group settings and the development and implementation of program activities. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of all campers. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp and leadership experiences for participants that focus on the camp core values of courtesy, respect reasonability, confidence care and compassion.
The Head Counsellor lives in an assigned shared staff cabin, delivers programming and supervises tent cabins as needed. Position consists of 75% program delivery, 25% administrative responsibilities.
Program Head
The Program Head is a member of the Senior Staff and responsible for overseeing the programming delivered at camp and ensuring the quality and values of camp are reflected in the program. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of all campers. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp and leadership experiences for participants that focus on the camp core values of courtesy, respect reasonability, confidence care and compassion.
The Program Head lives in an assigned shared staff cabin, delivers programming and supervises tent cabins as needed. The position is 75% program delivery and 25% administrative responsibilities.
Waterfront Head
The Waterfront Head is a member of the Senior Staff and responsible for overseeing the safety, programming at the waterfront area and ensuring the Lifesaving Society Standards and programs are being delivered. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth and skill achievement of all campers. This staff member will provide high quality summer camp and leadership experiences for participants that focus on the camp core values of courtesy, respect reasonability, confidence care and compassion.
The Waterfront Head lives in an assigned shared staff cabin, delivers programming and supervises tent cabins as needed. Position consists of 75% program delivery and 25% administrative responsibilities.
Staff Requirements
We require that all our staff have the following requirements:
- Be at least 17 by the end of the calendar year they are working
- Hold current Standard First Aid & CPR C qualifications
- Be able to attend the full summer, including training week, from late June to the last week in August
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check from your local police force
- Current Lifesaving Society NLS Award and Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (Waterfront Staff)
- Experience supporting youth and young adults with exceptionalities and/or phyiscal disabilities(Inclusion Program Staff)
- Safe Food Handler Certification(Kitchen Staff)
